The Family Nerve Center "How To Get Your Family in Sync"

Our family never center or “The Brain” as I sometimes refer to it on mornings before I have had my first cup of coffee is located smack dead center on our kitchen wall and holds all our families scheduling. Our family calendar keeps everyone on the same page. It is a great tool to teach your children and “big children” how to be organized. We start every week be jotting down our schedules, pulling all notices from back packs and checking school calendars. Each of my three children have a color coded schedule and all there events such as school closings, parent teacher meetings, sports practice, and play dates get color coded in. It also helps to have a dry erase board so you can write down quick reminders before they leave for the day or even hang up a notice that needs to be handed in.  Be creative with paint or even frame the space out with a modern wood frame of you choice, who says organizing can’t be stylish!
A bulletin board and a large monthly or weekly calendar will do the trick
I Love: Post-it weekly planner ($21.76) amazon.com
This weekly planner works well giving each member a color coded scheme.  When the week is over you can simply remove it from the wall.  We start planning and writing the new week on Sunday night after dinner and its become a nice way to share while we all sink up our week.

A Cork and Dry erase board comb
I Love: Post-it Bulletin Board,Sticky Cork and Dry Erase ($62.73) amazon.com
This dry erase board and sticky cork provide a great way to
hag up current school forms that need to be handed in as well as a place to leave each other messages.

Here’s an example of the “Family Nerve” in action.  Pottery Barn has done a beautiful job of keeping us organized.  The system can be interchanged and all the components ordered separately according to each families needs.
